Mike joined the DiMM faculty after attaining his diploma as a student with the first Canadian course in 2012. His 30 plus year career in medicine has been in rural and remote general practice, emergency and flight medicine.
He currently lives in Nelson, BC practising general medicine in the small town of Salmo, BC. He practises prehospital and mountain medicine as a senior member of Nelson Search and Rescue as medical lead, avalanche response team lead and Class D long line technician. He works at Mike Wiegeles Heli-skiing as physician/guide and sits on ICAR MedCom.
In the winter you will find him ski touring and summer trail running or climbing in the Selkirk Mountains of Southeast BC. Truth be told more likely walking the dog, cleaning up the garden or challenging his daughters to a round of disc golf.
He is happy to be part of the CSMM DiMM team and looks forward to spending time in the mountains with like-minded mountain medicine folks!
